A note from our CEO in response to COVID-19

Despite its reputation for relaxing and calming effects, cannabis is a versatile plant for both daytime and nighttime use. Products that are high in sativa, an energizing and uplifting strain, can keep you focused and motivated throughout the day.

Whether you need energy for a workout, need to focus on an upcoming task, or are preparing for a creative project, cannabis sativa for daytime use can produce a stimulating effect in both the body and mind.

Daytime vs Nighttime Strains‌

Each cannabis strain is unique and may affect different people in unique ways. However, certain strains may have an energizing or relaxing effect. While a nighttime strain may help you relax and unwind, a daytime strain can produce energy, clarity, focus, motivation, and a mood boost.

Indica has a relaxing and sedating effect with a greater impact on the body. Sativa, however, has an energizing and boosting effect with a greater impact on the mind. A hybrid is a crossbreed of two strains, which can be dominant in either indica or sativa.

Another element to consider within strains is the percentage of THC and CBD. The individual effects of each strain will differ depending on the chemical components. Strains high in THC may produce a more euphoric effect, while strains high in CBD produce a gentler high.

Effects of Cannabis Sativa

While the effects of cannabis sativa can differ depending on the strain and the person, it generally has the following effects:

  • Energizing the body
  • Boosting overall mood
  • Increasing creativity
  • Lowering inhibitions
  • Reducing anxiety
  • Expanding the mind
  • Sharpening the ability to focus
  • Increasing motivation

In addition to these effects, some report that cannabis sativa products can also offer relief from conditions like depression, anxiety, and ADHD. It’s important to note that these effects are typically short-term. While they may not be able to “cure” any conditions, they can offer temporary relief, allowing you to better focus on the task at hand.

Side Effects of Cannabis Sativa

Cannabis can be a powerful tool for creating energy and focus, but it can also come with side effects. These effects can differ depending on the person. Use of sativa may cause:

  • Anxiety
  • Paranoia
  • Drowsiness
  • Increased appetite, or “munchies”
  • Dry mouth and eyes
  • Dizziness
  • Rapid heart rate
  • Difficulty coordinating
  • Slow reaction times

If you’re new to sativa, start out with a lower THC strain, slowly increasing your amount as your body adjusts.

To reduce side effects, some experts recommend microdosing, or dosing with small amounts, to maximize the energizing effects without the downsides. The minimum effective dose is about 3 mg per day, but depending on your weight, age, metabolism, and personal needs, the right dose may differ.

Using Sativa for Daytime Focus

While some strains may focus more on energizing, uplifting, or inducing creativity, all cannabis sativa strains share some of the same characteristics.

Depending on the dose or the THC/CBD levels, it may take some experimentation to find the strain that works best for your needs. If trying a strain for the first time, start with a small amount first to test the effects on your mind and body.
